The genius composer Maurice Ravel was often inspired by masterworks of thepast. He was much taken with Baroque music and was a great admirer of Mozart. His striking orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, a series of musical interpretations of paintings, was one of his biggest successes. Pianist Mari Kodama brings her artistic refinement to Mozart’s last concerto, a work of sophistication and elegance.
