SPOTLIGHT ON STRINGS AND HARP

The 71st edition of the OSM Standard Life Competition will be dedicated to strings and harp.
This national competition is open to young Canadian musicians and landed immigrants. It offers cash prizes, scholarships for sessions at summer academies and concert opportunities, most notably with the OSM.

OVER $100,000 IN PRIZES AND SCHOLARSHIPS !

The OSM Standard Life Competition is one of the few Canadian competitions to offer three prize categories: cash prizes, scholarships offering tuition and accommodation at Canada’s leading summer academies, at Banff and Orford among others, and most importantly the privilege of playing with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and also in recitals during the summer festival of the Orford Arts Center and in Yellowknife.

Among the judges who return each year to judge the talent and excellence of the artists participating in the OSM Standard Life Competition are OSM musicians, fabled teachers, instrumentalists, singers, and world-renowned conductors and artistic directors.

For a fourth consecutive year, the semifinals and finals of the Competition will take place at the Tanna Schulich Hall of the Schulich School of Music of McGill University.

Candidates’ applications and recordings must be received or postmarked by September 30, 2010 at the latest.
