Two special concerts to conclude this season in style!

First, Voices of Women presents an all-female roster and brings you, among many others, a composition by OSM Artist-in-Residence Ana Sokolović and poems by Innu artist Joséphine Bacon. Accessible free of charge via webcast, this concert pays tribute to all women, including women creators and performers, in an ode to their beauty and diversity.

The second and final concert of the season is led by Dutch conductor and Music Director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Otto Tausk. In this program, works by Berlioz and Prokofiev will showcase several Quebec soloists and musicians of the Orchestra.

The OSM welcomes the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director Otto Tausk for a concert in which melody reign supreme. Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été, a cycle of six mélodies (art songs) evoking love with tenderness, restlessness, mystery, and exhilaration, transports us to the lagoons of an unknown island.

Her deep and luminous voice and velvet timbre are hallmarks of contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux’s triumph on the greatest European and North American stages. From Baroque to 20th-century music, this talented Quebec artists for whom “singing must be an expression of joy” commands every repertoire. A generous performer, she has the gift of touching her listeners with even the subtlest emotions.

ANA SOKOLOVIĆ

Montrealer by adoption, Serbian-born composer Ana Sokolović is an influential figure in contemporary music. She is the recipient of many prestigious awards, and the Société de musique contemporaine (SMCQ) paid tribute to her in their “Hommage” series. Her compositions have met with international success in performances by celebrated orchestras and artists. Ana Sokolović’s music conjures vivid soundscapes steeped in Balkan folklore, transporting listeners into a dreamlike “magical world.” Not to be missed!
