Kent Nagano and Mahler’s Fifth Symphony
Kent Nagano conducts Mahler’s Symphony no. 5, whose poignant opening funeral march’s rhythmic contours are a nod to Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. To complete the programme: Ravel’s Introduction et Allegro, originally commissioned to showcase the sound capabilities of the harp, turns the spotlight on some of the OSM’s Principal Chairs.

BACH’S LUMINOUS CHRISTMAS ORATORIO
Faithful to holiday tradition, the OSM performs a jewel of the Baroque repertoire: Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. Under the direction of Kent Nagano, share in the joy of the Nativity and in the blissful serenity of this masterpiece with the OSM Chorus and four talented soloists at the Maison symphonique.

DVOŘÁK’S SYMPHONY “FROM THE NEW WORLD”
For the first time, the OSM welcomes to the podium the brilliant Xian Zhang. She will conduct the superb Symphony “From the New World” by Dvořák, this composer’s first great North American work.
