Kent Nagano and Mahler’s Fifth Symphony

Kent Nagano conducts Mahler’s Symphony no. 5, whose poignant opening funeral march’s rhythmic contours are a nod to Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. To complete the programme: Ravel’s Introduction et Allegro, originally commissioned to showcase the sound capabilities of the harp, turns the spotlight on some of the OSM’s Principal Chairs.

Kent Nagano Conducts Bruckner’s “Romantic” Symphony

Kent Nagano conducts Bruckner’s profoundly expressive Symphony No. 4, “Romantic,” one of the composer’s most popular works. Serenade, freely inspired by Plato’s Symposium, is the result of Bernstein’s reflection on the nature of love.

BACH’S LUMINOUS CHRISTMAS ORATORIO

Faithful to holiday tradition, the OSM performs a jewel of the Baroque repertoire: Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. Under the direction of Kent Nagano, share in the joy of the Nativity and in the blissful serenity of this masterpiece with the OSM Chorus and four talented soloists at the Maison symphonique.

DVOŘÁK’S SYMPHONY “FROM THE NEW WORLD”

For the first time, the OSM welcomes to the podium the brilliant Xian Zhang. She will conduct the superb Symphony “From the New World” by Dvořák, this composer’s first great North American work.

KENT NAGANO CONDUCTS DUSAPIN AND BEETHOVEN

Experience an exceptional event! In collaboration with prestigious European musical institutions, the OSM presents Symphonie pour orgue et orchestre by Dusapin, a French composer of international renown.

KENT NAGANO CONDUCTS MESSIAEN AND FAURÉ’S REQUIEM

The OSM’s musicians and Chorus, conducted by Kent Nagano perform Fauré’s deeply moving Requiem, a contemplative, luminous work of great consolation and serenity that words cannot fully describe.
