
Joseph Burke
Joseph Burke, a versatile violist from South Brunswick, New Jersey, discovered his passion for music at age seven. Joe has become a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, performing with numerous ensembles including the Tanglewood Festival Orchestra, New York String Orchestra, Bard Conservatory Orchestra, and Shepherd School Symphony. He has also given featured performances at some of the most renowned concert venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, Verizon Hall, Jones Hall, Ozawa Hall, and The Tobin Center. Joe performed regularly with the San Antonio Opera and Ballet, as well as the Houston Symphony. With dedication and skill, he’s become a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, gracing prestigious venues and collaborating with esteemed artists including Yo-Yo Ma and John Williams. Recognized for his talent, Joseph has been a finalist in renowned competitions including the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and featured on NPR’s « From the Top.” In May 2023, he won the audition for the Orchestra Symphonique de Montreal, securing his tenure in April 2024. He’s had the privilege to study under CJ Chang, Kerri Ryan, Marka Gustavsson, Steve Tenenbom, and Ivo van der Werff at Bard Conservatory and the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. Joseph proudly plays a fantastic viola made by Ray Spitz Becker in 2014.
