Stéphane Lévesque
Stéphane Lévesque is the principal bassoonist of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. A member of the OSM since 1998, he has also served as guest principal bassoonist with the Saito Kinen Orchestra and the Mito Chamber Orchestra, both in Japan.
In addition to his orchestral career, he teaches at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University and gives masterclasses around the world, including in Europe, Australia, and the United States. Stéphane holds a master’s degree from the Yale School of Music and degrees in bassoon and chamber music from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal.
Stéphane has appeared as a soloist on numerous occasions with the OSM, as well as with ensembles such as the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the New World Symphony, Les Violons du Roy, and the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble.
Stéphane has studied music since elementary school, but it was only at the end of high school that he decided to pursue it as a career. A lifelong fan of heavy metal music, he was especially proud to take part in the creation of the Voivod Symphonique concert in January 2025. He even appeared in an episode of the metal podcast Vox&Hops!
