Maison symphonique de Montréal

Discovery concert for curious crowds! Renowned organists Jean-Willy Kunz and Christian Lane will be joined by Montreal singer Leif Vollebekk – our special guest to show off the immense versatility of the pipe organ.

The CIOC is delighted to collaborate with Leif Vollebekk, whose album, ‘Twin Solitude’ has made the Polaris Music Prize shortlist of top 10 best Canadian albums. Recently, NPR described, “Elegy”, a song from Vollebekk’s latest album, as a “devastatingly beautiful song they love”.

Vollebekk has written a new piece for solo organ, which you will hear on October 6, 2017, with Jean-Willy Kunz. His song “Rest,” was originally recorded on a pump organ and will surely captivate audiences in the stunning Maison symphonique.

Jean-Willy Kunz an adept at giving the pipe organ a more contemporary style, having already collaborated with artists such as Pierre Lapointe and Martha & Rufus Wainwright. This is a concert not to be missed.
