
Ryan Speedo Green
Three-time Grammy Award winning bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green has established himself as an artist of international demand at the world’s leading opera houses and orchestras. The 2024–2025 season sees Mr. Green’s role debut as Klingsor in Parsifal with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and his return to the Metropolitan Opera as Queequeg in Moby Dick, Ferrando in Il Trovatore, and Der Geisterbote in Die Frau ohne Schatten. He also returns to Santa Fe Opera for his role debut as Wotan in Die Walküre.
Orchestral appearances include a return to Orchestre Métropolitain Montréal for Bruckner’s Te Deum and Mahler’s Symphony no. 8 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Recital appearances include his debut at Carnegie Hall as well as with Los Angeles Opera, Colorado Opera, and True Concord.
Mr. Green’s inspiring life story is captured in the book Sing for Your Life, by New York Times journalist Daniel Bergner. It tells the story of Mr. Green’s journey: from a trailer park in southeastern Virginia and time spent in Virginia’s juvenile facility of last resort to the Met stage.
Mr. Green holds degrees from Florida State University, the Hartt School of Music, and was a member of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program.
