LEARN MORE
Christoph Eschenbach, conductor
Christoph Eschenbach is internationally acclaimed both as a conductor and pianist. Combining performance tradition, emotional intensity, and personal charisma, his performances are recognized for their interpretive depth. Eschenbach has conducted many leading orchestras and garnered the highest musical honours. Since September 2019, he serves as Musical Director of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.
Born in war-torn Europe in 1940, a succession of personal tragedies affected his early childhood years, truly making music his saviour. Today, at 83, his keen artistic curiosity continues undiminished.
Eschenbach is well known as a tireless supporter of young talent – this is his greatest passion, and he values his mentorship above his own distinguished career. To date, he has discovered and supported the pianist Lang Lang, the violinist Julia Fischer and the cellists Leonard Elschenbroich and Daniel Müller-Schott. As Artistic Advisor and lecturer at Kronberg Academy, he accompanies young violinists, cellists and violists as they prepare for careers as world-class soloists.
Augustin Hadelich, violinist
Augustin Hadelich, one of the greatest violinists of our time, is renowned for his phenomenal technique, penetrating interpretations, and ravishing tone. As a soloist, he performs with the world's leading orchestras, including the Vienna, Berlin, London, Los Angeles, New York and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestras, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and the NHK Symphony Orchestra, among others. His extensive discography has attracted rave reviews and several GRAMMY nominations, as well as a GRAMMY Award in 2016 for Best Classical Instrumental Solo.
An American and German citizen, Hadelich studied at the Juilliard School and has won several major prizes and awards, including first prize at the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis, which launched his career in 2006. He is currently on the faculty of the Yale School of Music. Augustin Hadelich plays a 1744 Giuseppe Guarneri 'del Gesù' violin, 'Leduc, ex Szeryng', on loan from the Tarisio Trust.
