Picolo - Principal
Christopher James
Christopher James is the principal piccolo in the woodwind section of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. A member of the OSM since 2022, he holds a Bachelor of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. He has been a member of the Memphis, Missouri, Ann Arbor, and Vancouver Symphonies, and has performed with the Detroit Symphony, the Toronto Symphony, the Pittsburg Symphony and the National Arts Centre Orchestra, among others. In addition to his orchestral career, Chris is also a chamber musician and a flute instructor at the McGill University Schulich School of Music.
He decided to become a musician at the age of fourteen: after playing in an orchestra for the first time, he thought it was the best feeling in the world!
