It was during an internship with the National Youth Orchestra that Pierre-Vincent Plante first realized that he wanted a career as an orchestral musician. A grant recipient from the Canada Council for the Arts and Les Amis de l’art, he also won First Prize at the OSM Competition in 1974, and soon after was hired as a freelancer by the Orchestra. His fondest musical memory is not one of being on stage, but of being an audience member at Martha Argerich’s performance of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G. In addition to working as a professional musician, Mr. Plante studied instrument repair and has acquired the expertise to repair oboes and English horns.
