Benefit Event

Bal des enfants 2025

The Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (OSM) is pleased to present, on February 16, the world premiere of the Carnival des insectes, a musical work by Quebec composer Maxime Goulet.

Sunday, February 16th

Maison symphonique de Montréal

Animations in the foyers : 1 P.M.
Concert : 2:30 P.M.
Animations in the foyers : 3:30 P.M.
End of the event : 4:30 P.M.

Conceived as a suite of short movements, each piece will highlight an insect and an orchestra instrument, offering a unique opportunity to hear each family of instruments as a soloist. Ants, bees, beetles, and many other insects will be evoked by the orchestra’s varied timbres.

To complete the celebration, other little critters might just join in! For this Bal des enfants under the theme of the Carnival, there’s no need for butterfly nets or fly traps, just open your eyes and ears wide!

Thanks to your generous donation, hundreds of disadvantaged or ill children, as well as their families, have the opportunity to experience the magic of the Bal des enfants for free, immersing themselves in the enchanting world of classical music.

  • Each year, 30,000 young people aged 5 to 17 attend the Jeux d’enfants and Matinées scolaires concerts, and your generosity supports access to classical music in schools by providing educational materials, digital concerts, digital workshops, educational resources, video clips, playlists, etc.
  • 7 Opus Awards presented by the Quebec Music Council recognizing the quality of the concerts;
  • Accessible pricing (from $9 to $12 per student);
  • Support for schools to make classical music more accessible (educational materials, turnkey digital concerts, educational resources, video clips, playlists).

Your support contributes to around 10 projects per year in collaboration with community organizations for the most disadvantaged, including children with special needs and refugee families.

  • Support for young talent in Quebec and Canada (training, masterclasses, mentorship of amateur artists as part of our summer programming, etc.);
  • Concours OSM, since 1940, the largest classical music competition in the country: a high-level competition, mentorship, and career development support for winners, with prestigious international juries and partners.

Your donation helps support a free summer program, including concerts in the parks, an outdoor concert, the festival La Virée classique , and free activities at Place des Arts and on Sainte-Catherine Street.
