Constellation de cordes
Against a backdrop of 17th-century sounds, the voices and instruments in Constellation de cordes blend and overlap to weave into ever-evolving music, notably via Deo Munyakazi’s (Rwanda) improvisations on the inanga. The result is an astonishing constellation of pieces, all unique, and all taking on new meanings when assembled.
Rwandan songs are superimposed onto the instrumental melodies of Kerry Bursey’s theorbo and Reza Abaee (Iran)’s gheychak viola, adding a baroque depth to the Scottish and Irish notes of singer and violinist Janelle Lucyk’s traditional Maritime vocal repertoire.
