László Fassang
László Fassang is recognized as one of the most versatile organists of his generation. He considers his artistic mission to be the public awareness of organ music’s richness, by sharing his passion for the instrument and its composers. To expand the traditional borders of the pipe organ, he plays regularly with musicians from the classical, folk and jazz fields, and works with visual artists, dancers, actors, composers and organ builders. With his innovative approach to music, thorough knowledge of musical styles, excellent technique and exceptional improvisation skills, he aims to redefine the organ’s image. László Fassang graduated with distinction from the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and the Paris Conservatoire. Currently, he is organist-in-resident at Müpa-Budapest (Palace of Arts, Budapest) and professor of improvisation at the Paris Conservatoire, the first foreign organist to hold that position.
