Les Petits chanteurs du Mont-Royal
Founded in 1956 by Father Léandre Brault of the Congregation of Holy Cross, the Maîtrise des Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal is a mixed-voiced choir school of 200 boys aged nine to seventeen years old. At the Maîtrise the boys receive not only their school education but also an advanced musical and choral training. The Choir sings at over sixty religious celebrations at St-Joseph’s Oratory each year and performs with a number of prestigious arts institutions such as the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Opera de Montréal, and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. During the course of their studies, the boys discover works of all eras through a repertoire that ranges from gregorian chant to contemporary works. The choir tours every year, nationally or internationally, and has several recordings to its credit. Since August 2016, Andrew Gray is their artistic and musical director.
