Hermanos Gutiérrez

Hermanos Gutiérrez is an instrumental duo whose Grammy-nominated music blends Latin rhythms, Western soundscapes, acoustic instruments, surf-rock textures, and the influence of film composers such as Ennio Morricone and Gustavo Santaolalla. Brothers Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez grew up in Switzerland, frequently traveling to Playas, Ecuador, to visit family members. Despite an eight-year age gap, the brothers formed a musical connection during a jam session in 2015, when Estevan visited Alejandro in Zurich. That jam session marked the beginning of their duo, and Hermanos Gutiérrez began releasing original music with 8 Años in 2016. El Camino de mi Alma (2017) and Hoy Como Ayer (2019) followed, with all three albums focusing on a blend of Latin influences and intricate guitar lines. Hijos del Sol (2020) marked a stylistic expansion, exploring Southwestern textures inspired by the group’s recent visits to Mexico and the American Southwest. Two years later, the band teamed up with producer Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys) for El Bueno y el Malo (2022), an album that earned Auerbach a 2023 Grammy nomination for “Non-Classical Producer of the Year.” Auerbach returned as producer for the album Sonido Cósmico (2024), which reached No. 193 on the Billboard 200, No. 6 on the UK Americana Albums chart, and No. 6 in Switzerland.
