Richard Strauss: Symphonic Imagination – Matinee
2026-2027For this matinee, the spotlight is on orchestral flair and vivid storytelling. Don Juan unfolds with passionate sweep and virtuosic brilliance, soon joined by the mischievous antics of Till Eulenspiegel, where Strauss paints the escapades of his infamous trickster with humor and panache. In the second half, Don Quixote brings a deeper emotional resonance: under Alisa Weilerstein’s cello, the idealistic hero of Cervantes comes alive with nuance, longing, and disarming humanity, guided by Rafael Payare’s inspired direction. This program is also offered in an alternate version featuring Death and Transfiguration.
Classical concert presented without intermission, in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere!
