Schubert: Signed Herreweghe

2026-2027

Between Mendelssohn and Schubert, a dialogue across time—a genius saluting another. A devoted admirer of Schubert, Mendelssohn was among the first to recognize the greatness of his music and bring it to light. Under Philippe Herreweghe’s sensitive and luminous direction, this concert pays tribute to that artistic kinship. Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, a masterpiece of elegance and lyrical inspiration, opens the evening in brilliant fashion. Then Schubert’s Symphony no. 9, “The Great”—which Mendelssohn helped unveil after the composer’s death—unfolds in all its radiant power. A journey where admiration becomes music, where the passion of a conductor and orchestra revives the dream of friendship between two kindred spirits.
