Urban Nature Summer 2025

collectif9 offers an explosive program for string quintet and drums that explores a mix of contemporary languages strongly rooted in folk and urban cultures with drummer Ronny Desinor. NATURE URBAINE features pieces by Gabriella Smith, Giovanni Sollima, Curtis Stewart, Vijay Iyer, John Zorn, and Jessie Montgomery. The music is groovy and percussive, but also at times dissonant and exploratory, influenced by jazz, funk, and folk music.

The group aims to promote classical music from a personal perspective, where new voices and interpretations are welcomed and encouraged, performing “with an infectious energy and vigour that grabs an audience’s attention” (The WholeNote). Since their 2011 debut, collectif9 has performed numerous concerts across North America, Europe, and Asia. collectif9 operates on the premise that a change of context can influence communication and experience.
