Josée Marchand
Josée Marchand holds the position of second oboe in the woodwind section of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. She studied at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Hull and later continued her studies in Montreal, where she was unanimously awarded a First Prize in oboe and chamber music. She completed her education at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. Josée has received several scholarships and awards, including those from the Canada Council for the Arts and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
Josée became a musician thanks to her father and her family environment, which was steeped in arts and culture. But when it comes to defining what propelled her career forward, she is unequivocal: “The music conservatories of Quebec, high-quality institutions, were a springboard to excellence for me and made me a fully accomplished professional musician.”
In addition to her career as a musician, she enjoys renovation and interior design.
