Marie Lacasse
Marie Lacasse is a violinist in the first violin section of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, of which she has been a member since 2000.
She graduated with high distinction from the Quebec Conservatories of Music, where she studied under Hratchia Sevadjian, and later earned a postgraduate artist diploma from McGill University under the guidance of Yonathan Berick.
Winner of the First Prize in the OSM Competition (under-18 category) and Second Prize in the 18-and-over category, she is also a recipient of the Lieutenant Governor of Canada’s Medal, recognizing her creativity and musical commitment within the community.
Coming from a family where music played a central role, she was deeply inspired by her grandfather and mother in choosing her career path.
Offstage, Marie nurtures a passion for interior design and antique furniture restoration. Giving a second life to forgotten objects is, for her, a creative and tangible way to combat overconsumption—blending artistic sensibility with a commitment to a more sustainable lifestyle.
