Pierre Beaudry
Pierre Beaudry holds the position of principal bass trombone in the brass section of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM). A member of the OSM since 1982, he studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Trois-Rivières and the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, earning diplomas in both trombone and tuba. He was awarded no fewer than five first prizes from the Conservatoire—in solfège, musical dictation, trombone, chamber music, and tuba. In addition to his orchestral career, Pierre teaches tuba and euphonium at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal.
Pierre chose a career in music after watching the film The Five Pennies, starring Danny Kaye and Louis Armstrong. Otherwise, he says he might have become a simultaneous translator at the United Nations, an actor, a narrator, a music therapist, or even a priest! Passionate about teaching and languages, Pierre Beaudry is also the author of a constrained-writing novel and a story written using musical note names. He loves visiting schools to introduce children to the brass family of instruments.
