Scott Chancey
Scott Chancey is a section violist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
A member of the OSM since 2023, his connection with the Orchestra began much earlier—he performed with them as an extra musician for ten years! Previously, he served as principal viola of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra from 2006 to 2010. He is one of the founding members of Ensemble Collectif9, whose album Rituæls won a Juno Award for Classical Album of the Year (Small Ensemble) in 2025. He has performed at the Montreal Chamber Music Festival, the Ottawa Chamberfest, MISQA, the Collines en musique concert series in the Outaouais region, and AltoFest.
At the age of three, after seeing a violinist perform, Scott reportedly declared, “That’s what I’m going to do!” He has always wanted to work in the arts, and if he hadn’t become a musician, he would have liked to work in film or television production. He also has a deep love for film music.
