Vincent Boilard
Vincent Boilard holds the position of Associate Principal Oboe in the woodwind section of the Orchestre symphonique de montréal (OSM). A member of the OSM since 2015, he studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Rimouski and the Conservatoire de musique de Québec, and completed a Master’s degree at the Haute école de musique de Genève in Switzerland. He was awarded second prize at the OSM Competition in 2011, and received an Opus Award in 2023 for the album Lumières nordiques, in the category “Modern and Contemporary Music.” In addition to his orchestral career, Vincent has been teaching at the Université de Montréal since 2016 and at the Domaine Forget summer music academy since 2020.
Vincent fell in love with the oboe the first time he heard it in an orchestra, but it was Heinz Holliger’s recordings that revealed to him the instrument’s expressive potential—one of the key inspirations behind his decision to become a musician. He didn’t stop at just one instrument, however: he also regularly plays the oboe d’amore, English horn, and baritone oboe. A dedicated chamber musician, he is also passionate about promoting Canadian music. Outside of his musical activities, Vincent enjoys running and hiking in the forest.
