
Charles Pilon
Charles Pilon has been a member of the OSM viola section since 2016 and has held the position of Second Assistant since 2018.
From 2005 to 2016, he was a member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Principal Viola. Prior to that, he played in the first violin section of Orchestra London in Ontario.
Originally trained as a violinist, he completed his bachelor’s degree under the tutelage of Sonia Jelinkova and Mauricio Fuks, before pursuing an Advanced Studies diploma with Robert Lipsett at the University of Southern California. He later continued his viola studies with Thomas Riebl at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
Charles has performed as a member of the University of Alberta String Quartet. He has appeared as a soloist with the Alberta Baroque Orchestra, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and the National Academy Orchestra in Hamilton.
Charles plays a David Pizzerno viola and a Hill & Sons bow, generously loaned by Canimex Inc. (Drummondville).
