
Marie-André Chevrette
Marie-André Chevrette has held the position of Associate Principal Second Violin with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal since 1999. After completing her studies at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, she continued her training at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where she earned a master’s degree under the guidance of Kathleen Winkler and Rafael Fliegel. She also had the opportunity to study internationally with renowned teachers such as Ivry Gitlis, Sergei Kravchenko, Trevor Williams, Bogodar Kotorovitch, and Peter Saleff.
A laureate and finalist of several prestigious competitions, Marie-André distinguished herself notably at the Canadian Music Competition, the Music Academy of the West, the Shepherd School Symphony, and the Prix d’Europe competition, where she was awarded the John Newmark Prize. She was also honored with the title of “Distinguished Violinist” at the Ibla Grand Prize international competition in Italy and selected as a finalist in the Canada Council for the Arts Instrument Bank competition.
She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Egypt, Europe, and North America, collaborating with numerous world-renowned orchestras and musicians.
