Northern Lights: Dalia Stasevska Conducts Tchaikovsky and Sibelius

Maison symphonique de Montréal

Conductor Dalia Stasevska directs the OSM and offers two perspectives on the past of major composers. Tchaikovsky pays tribute to Mozart in his Variations on a Rococo Theme, which will be performed by cellist and 2019 OSM Competition winner Bryan Cheng. Sibelius, for his part, broke with Romanticism in his Symphony no. 3, which seeks a formal balance reminiscent of Classicism while maintaining an atmosphere of thoroughly Nordic serenity.
